AAP to Support Opposition’s Candidate Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy in Vice Presidential Election

• After receiving the green signal from AAP’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, MP Sanjay Singh made the announcement.
• “This is a battle between the RSS and the Constitution. The BJP candidate comes from the RSS, while the opposition candidate has no connection with any political party,” said Sanjay Singh.
• Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy hails from Andhra Pradesh, and now it is up to the TDP and other parties to decide whether they will support him, Sanjay Singh added.

New Delhi, Aug 2025 :The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will support the opposition’s candidate, Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, in the upcoming Vice Presidential election. On Tuesday, following the approval of AAP’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, senior leader and MP Sanjay Singh announced the party’s decision.

“This is a battle between the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Constitution. The BJP’s candidate comes from the RSS, while the opposition’s candidate, Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, is a former Supreme Court judge. He comes from Andhra Pradesh. Now, it is up to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and other regional parties in Andhra Pradesh to decide whether they will support Justice Reddy,” Singh said.

Commenting on the opposition’s decision to field former Supreme Court judge Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy as their candidate, Singh stated clearly that he is the joint nominee of the opposition parties. “AAP’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal has taken the decision, and our party has resolved to support Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, former judge of the Supreme Court,” Singh confirmed.

He further added, “This election is not just political—it is a contest between the RSS ideology and the Indian Constitution. The BJP’s candidate is from the RSS background, while the opposition’s nominee, Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, has never been associated with any political party or specific ideology. He has been a fair and respected judge. Since he belongs to Andhra Pradesh, the decision now rests with the TDP and other parties in the state whether to extend their support to him or not. As far as AAP is concerned, under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, we will fully support Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy as the joint opposition candidate for Vice President.”
