Educational and Skill Development Training Schemes by SARTHI Helping Youth

Mumbai : Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Research, Training, and Human Development Institute, known as SARTHI, works for the social, educational, and economic development of the targeted groups in Maharashtra—Maratha, Kunbi, Maratha-Kunbi, and Kunbi-Maratha communities. SARTHI has divisional offices and sub-centers in Kolhapur, Latur, Mumbai, Nashik, Amravati, Nagpur, Aurangabad, and Pune. Through SARTHI, several schemes are being implemented for students from the Maratha community. Educational schemes have helped enhance the academic performance of many students, while skill development training schemes are paving the way for youth towards self-reliance. A brief overview of these schemes is given below:

Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh SARTHI Higher Education Domestic Scholarship Scheme –
Under this scheme, students eligible for merit-based scholarships receive complete coverage of tuition fees, exam fees, registration fees, gymkhana, library, computer, and other institutional fees, directly transferred to their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts by the concerned university/educational institution.

Students who cannot secure hostel accommodation and are forced to stay elsewhere are provided hostel and meal allowances equivalent to the charges of the respective educational institution. In addition, support is extended in the form of hostel facilities, books, study material, and travel allowance.

Maharaja Sayajirao Gaikwad SARTHI Overseas Higher Education Scholarship Scheme –
This scheme supports students from Maratha, Kunbi, Maratha-Kunbi, and Kunbi-Maratha communities domiciled in Maharashtra, enabling them to pursue postgraduate degrees, postgraduate diplomas, and research-based programs (Ph.D.) abroad. Scholarships are awarded to 75 students (50 for postgraduate courses and diplomas, and 25 for Ph.D.) admitted to foreign institutions ranked within the top 200 in the latest QS World University Rankings.

Through this, underprivileged but talented students are encouraged to pursue higher education abroad and are prepared to compete globally.

Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj SARTHI Youth Personality Computer Skill Training Program (CSMS-DEEP) –
The objective of this scheme is to provide free training every year to 40,000 candidates from the targeted group in Maharashtra. The three-year goal is to train 1.2 lakh students, and so far, 97,286 have benefited.

Training is provided through Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) under four modules, including Spoken English, soft skills, IT skills, accounting with Tally, hardware and networking, web designing, data management, digital freelancing, mobile app development, and more. Training is free for the targeted group, with an expenditure of ₹26,360 per student. So far, 36,418 students have successfully passed, and 9,224 have secured employment.

Shreemant Maloji Raje Bhosale SARTHI Skill Development Training Program (Indo-German Tool Room – IGTR) –
The Indo-German Tool Room (IGTR), Aurangabad, under the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, conducts this training program. Training is offered at Aurangabad, Pune, Nagpur, and Kolhapur across 24 different courses.

The institution offers a wide range of technical courses at postgraduate, postgraduate diploma, diploma, and certificate levels, including tool designing, CAD/CAM, CNC machining, LCA, as well as short-term customized modules designed as per industry requirements.

To enhance the skills of rural youth from the targeted group, SARTHI has partnered with this institution to provide the training free of cost.
