Sanjay Kumar Singh Takes Over as Chairman and Managing Director of NHPC

Faridabad, Sep 2025 : Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects) at NHPC Limited, has officially assumed charge as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Power.

Singh brings over 33 years of expertise in the power and infrastructure sector, having played a key role in the execution of several mega hydroelectric projects in India and Bhutan. Since his appointment as Director (Projects) in July 2024, he has driven significant progress across NHPC’s under-construction ventures. He also held additional charge as Director (Technical) from August 2024 to April 2025.

Beyond his current role, Singh chairs the boards of NHPC Renewable Energy Limited and Jalpower Corporation Limited, while also serving as Nominee Director on the boards of Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited and Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited.

Prior to joining NHPC, Singh worked with SJVN Ltd. as Chief General Manager, where he oversaw the construction of major components of some of India’s largest hydroelectric power projects. His vast experience spans project construction, surveys, investigations, pre-construction planning, and contract management.

Singh’s leadership is expected to further strengthen NHPC’s position as a leading player in India’s renewable and hydroelectric power sector.
