Sipan Kumar Garg Assumes Additional Charge as Director (Finance) of NHPC Limited
Faridabad, Sept 2025 : Sipan Kumar Garg has assumed the additional charge of Director (Finance) at NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydropower company and a Navratna Enterprise of the Government of India, effective September 1, 2025.
Garg is presently serving as Director (Finance) at THDC India Limited, where he is also designated as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Key Managerial Personnel (KMP) by the company’s Board. With his new responsibility at NHPC, the organization stands to gain from his extensive financial expertise and leadership experience.
A highly accomplished finance professional, Garg holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) degree and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (CA), the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (CMA), and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (CS). He also holds an LL.B. degree and was a rank-holder in the Company Secretary examination. His academic achievements and professional credentials reflect his strong foundation in finance, law, and corporate governance.
With more than 24 years of experience in finance, accounts, taxation, and commercial functions within the power sector, Garg brings a wealth of knowledge to NHPC. He previously served as CFO at Aravali Power Company Private Limited and Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited, both subsidiaries of NTPC Limited. At NTPC, he held several strategic positions in the Corporate Accounts Group and at the Koldam Hydro Power Project. His steady rise in the organization was attributed to his professionalism, ethical approach, and dedication.
During his leadership at Aravali Power Company, the firm achieved its highest credit ratings and recorded significant savings on long-term loan interest, demonstrating his ability to combine sound financial management with strategic foresight.
Beyond his professional roles, Garg has actively enhanced his expertise through workshops and seminars at reputed institutions in India and abroad. As a sought-after speaker on Accounting Standards and Ind AS, he has contributed significantly to industry knowledge-sharing. He has also served on several committees of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, including the Committee on Public Finance and Government Accounting, the Accounting Standards Study Group, and the Members in Industry Group (PSU).
Garg’s achievements have earned him national recognition. In 2024, he was honoured as the Visionary CFO of India at the National Economic Growth Summit. He also received a Certificate of Appreciation from ICMAI for his contribution to THDCIL’s growth and for advancing the CMA profession.
With his new role at NHPC, Garg is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening the company’s financial strategy and supporting its vision of driving India’s clean energy future.
