UNICEF India to Provide Technical Support for Building a Developed Chhattisgarh
Applauds State Government’s Efforts including Suposhan and Mahtari Vandan Yojana

Raipur, Sept 2025 : A delegation from UNICEF India paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today at the Mahanadi Bhawan Secretariat. The delegation praised the initiatives taken by the state government towards building a “Developed Chhattisgarh” and expressed UNICEF’s commitment to provide technical support in this mission.
Welcoming UNICEF’s cooperation, the Chief Minister said that UNICEF has been making significant contributions worldwide in various sectors for public welfare. He noted that Chhattisgarh would greatly benefit from UNICEF’s technical expertise. The Chief Minister also shared the government’s priorities under the Anjor Vision 2047 document with the delegation.
The UNICEF team briefed the Chief Minister on the progress of their work in Chhattisgarh. Soledad Herrero, Head of Field Services at UNICEF India, lauded the state’s nutrition-related initiatives and the efforts being made to build a developed Chhattisgarh.
Herrero highlighted that the Mahtari Vandan Yojana is a major step towards women’s empowerment. She also noted UNICEF’s support in the Hamar Swasth Laika (Our Healthy Child) programme, which has shown highly positive outcomes and is now being adopted by other states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Odisha.
Chief Minister Sai appreciated UNICEF India’s contributions in Chhattisgarh and discussed possibilities of future technical cooperation across sectors, aligned with the goals of Anjor Vision 2047. He emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for building a Developed India by 2047, and in the same spirit, the Chhattisgarh government is committed to building a Developed Chhattisgarh through Anjor Vision 2047.
He added that under Anjor Vision 2047, the upliftment of tribal communities, especially Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), is among the government’s highest priorities. He underlined that UNICEF’s support would be crucial in improving health and nutrition indicators such as infant mortality and malnutrition. The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of better health and education for the empowerment of adolescent girls.
Present on the occasion were Subodh Kumar Singh (Principal Secretary to CM), Rahul Bhagat (Secretary to CM), Shimmi Aabidii (Secretary, Women and Child Development Department), Amit Kataria (Health Secretary), William Hanlon Jr. (Chief of UNICEF Chhattisgarh), and Dr. Bal Paritosh Das, along with other senior officials.
