TVK Chief Vijay Holds Rallies in Namakkal and Karur, Party Urges Safety and Discipline

Chennai, Sept 2025 : Ahead of Tamil Nadu Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) President Vijay’s public meetings in Namakkal and Karur on Saturday, party General Secretary N. Anand issued detailed safety guidelines, urging supporters to maintain discipline and follow law and order.

Anand emphasized that party workers and the public should not follow Vijay’s convoy in vehicles or climb buildings, trees, or electric poles near the venues. Pregnant women, senior citizens, children, and persons with disabilities were advised to watch the events via live stream instead of attending in person.

He further instructed party members to ensure unhindered movement for ambulances, schoolchildren, and passengers, cooperate fully with police, and refrain from bursting firecrackers or putting up unauthorized banners, arches, or flags. Parking should be organized to avoid traffic disruption, and attendees were urged to leave peacefully after the meetings.

Vijay, a Tamil cinema superstar and the founder of TVK, will continue his Assembly election campaign in Namakkal before moving to Veluchamipuram near Karur at noon. The latter is notably the same venue where AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami held a major rally recently, underscoring the political significance of the location. Vijay departed his Chennai residence early to fly to Namakkal, where thousands of party cadres were mobilized to welcome him.

These rallies are part of TVK’s long-term grassroots strategy ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Since announcing the party in early 2024, Vijay has steadily transformed TVK from a fan-driven initiative into an organized political platform, attracting young voters and supporters from his cinema fan base.

TVK’s political debut came with a massive public conference in Vikravandi, Villupuram district, in October 2024, which drew crowds far exceeding local expectations and marked the party as a potential challenger to older Dravidian parties. Momentum continued with a second state-level conference in Madurai in August 2025, where Vijay outlined his “people-first” agenda, focusing on corruption-free governance, quality education, and youth employment. These events helped formalize district-level committees and structured outreach programs.

Vijay has since undertaken extensive district tours, visiting two districts each weekend, with occasional Sunday engagements, as part of a strategy to connect directly with rural and semi-urban voters. Today’s Namakkal and Karur rallies are particularly significant given the region’s mixed political loyalties and its influence on western Tamil Nadu’s electoral outcome.

Local authorities have made extensive security arrangements, anticipating large crowds at both venues. Political analysts note that Vijay’s choice of Veluchamipuram, previously used by AIADMK’s Edappadi Palaniswami, signals TVK’s intent to contest traditional Dravidian strongholds and assert its growing presence.

With the 2026 elections approaching, TVK aims to position itself as a credible alternative, leveraging Vijay’s mass appeal alongside an expanding organizational network. Saturday’s rallies are expected to demonstrate the party’s increasing grassroots strength and its ability to convert fan enthusiasm into structured political support, highlighting TVK’s evolution from a celebrity-led movement to a formidable political contender in Tamil Nadu.

Team Maverick.
