Chandigarh, Oct 2025 : Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has appealed to legal experts in the United Kingdom to assist the state government in obtaining rare video footage of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh.
Speaking with a delegation from the Bar Council of England and Wales at his official residence, the Chief Minister said that no video recording of the great martyr is available in India. He mentioned that, according to information, Scotland Yard may possess rare video footage of Bhagat Singh—especially clips related to his arrest and trial proceedings.
Bhagwant Singh Mann said that these videos are of immense significance to all Indians, particularly Punjabis, as Bhagat Singh holds a place of great reverence in everyone’s hearts. The Chief Minister stated that the state government is already making efforts to obtain this footage so that future generations may draw inspiration from it.
He appealed to the Bar Council of England and Wales to support the Punjab government in this humanitarian and public welfare effort to preserve and promote the glorious legacy of Shaheed Bhagat Singh as a source of inspiration for the youth. He assured that the state government would leave no stone unturned in pursuing this matter of national importance.
On another note, the Chief Minister sought the Bar Council’s cooperation in encouraging British investors to invest in Punjab. He said that there are vast investment opportunities in sectors such as information technology, food processing, and automobiles, from which investors can benefit greatly.
Bhagwant Singh Mann invited British investors to participate in the upcoming ‘Invest Punjab Conference’ to be held in March next year.
On this occasion, Barbara Mills K.C., Chair of the Bar Council of England and Wales; Preen Dhillon-Starkings, Advisor to the Chair; Consultant Melisha Charles, and Barrister (4PB) Baljinder Bath, along with other members of the delegation, assured the Chief Minister of their full cooperation and support. They also appreciated the significant initiatives undertaken by Bhagwant Singh Mann to ensure the state’s economic progress and public welfare.
