Council school students and KGBV girls to create ‘Nationhood with Words’

Lucknow, Nov 2025 : Under the leadership of Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh, Uttar Pradesh’s Basic Education Department has been consistently launching new initiatives to promote the intellectual and creative growth of students. Continuing this effort, the department is organizing the Shri Aurobindo National History Essay Competition 2025 for students of the state’s council schools and Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls’ Schools (KGBVs).

This competition will be held from November 10 to December 15, 2025, with the cooperation of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and the Foundation for Indian Historical and Cultural Research (FIHCR).

Its objective is to foster patriotism, self-expression, and historical awareness among students so that, through their knowledge and imagination, they can experience India’s immortal culture and glorious traditions. Students of classes 7, 8, and 9 from council schools and KGBVs will participate and express their thoughts, language abilities, and their sensitive understanding of history.

Speaking about the initiative, Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh said the competition aims to inspire students to develop an interest in writing and to help them recognize India’s history as a living source of inspiration. He added that the effort will strengthen students’ English skills and creative thinking while building confidence in their ability to contribute to the nation’s future. The essay competition seeks to ignite a spirit of patriotism, self-respect, and creativity among millions of students across Uttar Pradesh.

This competition is more than just an academic exercise it’s an opportunity for students to connect with the cultural essence of India. The essay topics will highlight unsung heroes of the freedom struggle, India’s cultural renaissance, preservation of ancient heritage, and the great personalities who contributed to nation-building. Through this, students will be encouraged to develop a deeper sense of national pride, awareness, and responsibility.

All council schools and KGBV institutions across the state’s districts are actively participating in the competition. Teachers have been directed to motivate students and guide their creative expression effectively. Meanwhile, departmental officials are developing detailed plans for organizing the event, evaluating entries, and honouring outstanding participants.

Director General of School Education, Monika Rani, stated that this initiative is an important step toward promoting quality education, innovation, and creativity in the state. Through this initiative, students will get the opportunity to express their talent and ideas, while also experiencing a deep connection with the soul of the nation its history and culture.
