PM Modi Visits Blast Victims at Delhi Hospital, Assures Justice for Red Fort Tragedy
New Delhi, Nov 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, upon returning from his two-day visit to Bhutan on Wednesday, headed straight to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital to meet those injured in the Red Fort blast.
Arriving in the national capital in the afternoon, PM Modi interacted with the injured patients, enquired about their condition, and wished them a speedy recovery. He was also briefed by hospital doctors and senior officials about the treatment being provided.
During his Bhutan visit, the Prime Minister had expressed deep sorrow over the deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort and assured that the government would take the “strictest action” against those responsible. “A tragic incident took place in Delhi. I can understand the pain of the families who lost their loved ones,” PM Modi said in Thimphu. “I have come here with a heavy heart. The entire nation stands with the affected families in this hour of grief. Our agencies will investigate the matter thoroughly, and all those responsible will be brought to justice.
Earlier on Wednesday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) formed a special team of 10 officers to probe the blast near the Red Fort Metro Station. The team, led by NIA Additional Director General Vijay Sakhare, includes one Inspector General, two Deputy Inspectors General, three Superintendents of Police, and other DSP-level officers, sources said.
This development followed the Home Ministry’s decision a day earlier to hand over the case to the NIA.
The explosion occurred on the evening of November 10, when a Haryana-registered car parked near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station suddenly exploded, killing at least eight people and injuring several others.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday reviewed the ongoing investigation and the multi-state searches being conducted in connection with the case. He reiterated Prime Minister Modi’s firm resolve to bring the culprits to justice.
Chairing a high-level meeting at his residence, HM Shah instructed security officials to uncover the full conspiracy behind the blast “at the earliest.”
Investigating agencies have so far scanned over 1,000 CCTV clips and are analyzing mobile phone dump data from across the Red Fort area. According to Delhi Police sources, the data may help identify communication links and suspects connected to the explosion.
Agencies are also monitoring social media activity for potential leads. Preliminary assessments suggest the possibility of a suicide attack intended to cause maximum damage.
Home Minister Shah has directed the NIA, Intelligence Bureau (IB), and Delhi Police Special Cell to work closely together, stating, “No stone will be left unturned.”
Security has been tightened across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai, with heightened vigilance around crowded markets, metro stations, and religious sites.
