India Clinches Women’s Kabaddi World Cup in Dhaka, Secures Back-to-Back Titles

Dhaka, Nov 2025 : The Indian women’s kabaddi team delivered a commanding performance to lift the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup in Dhaka, defeating Chinese Taipei 35–28 in a thrilling final. With this victory, India secured its second consecutive World Cup title, reaffirming its dominance in the sport.

Haryana Steelers head coach Manpreet Singh lauded the team’s remarkable achievement, saying, “The women’s team has delivered a performance the entire nation can be proud of. Their belief, discipline and teamwork were truly outstanding. As a former India player, I know how much hard work it takes to reach this level. My heartfelt congratulations to the players and the coaching staff.”

India displayed exceptional consistency throughout the tournament. The team topped its group with an unbeaten streak, securing four wins in four matches. In the semifinals, they maintained their momentum by convincingly defeating Iran 33–21, earning a well-deserved place in the title clash. Chinese Taipei, who also enjoyed an unbeaten run in their group, overcame hosts Bangladesh 25–18 in the other semifinal to set up the final showdown.

Puneri Paltan head coach Ajay Thakur praised India’s dominance, stating, “It is a proud moment for India as the women’s team successfully retained the World Cup trophy in Dhaka. Their strong run to the final and their fight in the title match show how far women’s kabaddi has come over the last few years. The tournament also reflects the global rise of the sport, with Bangladesh hosting the event, and I hope this momentum continues in the coming years.”

The tournament saw participation from 11 countries, underscoring the rapid global growth of women’s kabaddi.
In Group A, India topped the table with eight points from four consecutive victories. Hosts Bangladesh finished second with six points from three wins. The other competing teams in the group included Thailand, Urangda, and Germany.

Chinese Taipei dominated Group B, finishing at the top with ten points after winning all five of their matches. Iran secured second place with eight points from four victories and one defeat. Nepal, Poland, Kenya and Zanzibar completed the rest of the group lineup.

From there, the top two teams in each group advanced to the knockout stage. India defeated Iran in the semifinal, while Chinese Taipei triumphed over Bangladesh, setting the stage for the high-stakes final in which India ultimately emerged victorious.

With their back-to-back World Cup triumphs, the Indian women’s kabaddi team has once again showcased the nation’s prowess on the global stage and inspired the next generation of athletes.
