A major step toward strengthening primary education: 150 nodal experts from 75 districts trained
The goal is to give every child entering Class 1 the same strong start in learning: Monika Rani
Lucknow, Nov 2025 : Under the guidance and leadership of Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) organized a three-day state-level training workshop from 24 to 26 November at the Ganga auditorium in Lucknow. In this workshop, 150 nodal SRGs, district coordinator training, and DIET mentors from 75 districts of the state were trained for effective implementation of school readiness. The training program concluded on Wednesday.
The purpose of the workshop was to prepare children enrolled in co-located Anganwadi centres and Balvatikas, along with newly admitted children in Class 1, for formal education by familiarizing them with pre-primary-related concepts under the school readiness initiative. During this time, participants were given detailed information about language development at the pre-primary level, early numeracy skills, and environmental pre-concept skills so that they can effectively prepare newly admitted children for formal schooling.
The three-day training program was conducted in batches. In the first batch on 24 November, nodal SRGs and district coordinator training, or DIET mentors from 25 districts, participated. After this, on 25 and 26 November, participants from 25 districts each received training. SCERT subject experts conducted extensive sessions on the training module, activity-based learning, pre-concept development, assessment methods, and the on-field implementation model of school readiness.
After completing the training, these nodal SRGs, district coordinator trainers, and DIET mentors will now train nodal teachers, ECCE educators, Shiksha Mitras, headmasters or in-charge teachers, and Anganwadi workers in their respective districts. This will give new momentum and strength to uniform, effective, and quality implementation of school readiness across the state.
Monika Rani, Director General, School Education, said, “Through school readiness our aim is to provide every child entering Class 1 with an equal and strong foundation for learning. Through this training, nodal SRGs and district coordinator training, or DIET mentors, have not only enhanced their own skills but will now play a leading role in implementing an activity-based, pre-skill-focused, and child-centered teaching model across the state. This effort will give new direction and pace to learning outcomes in the early grades.”
