Chief Minister Unveils ‘Women for Wetlands’ Campaign Poster
Raipur, February 2026: On the occasion of World Wetlands Day, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai unveiled the poster of the ‘Women for Wetlands’ campaign at the Chief Minister’s residence. On this occasion, the Chief Minister appreciated the ongoing campaign aimed at the conservation of wetlands and natural water sources in the state.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that water is life and wetlands are an invaluable heritage of human civilization. He described the involvement of the state’s women power in this sacred campaign as an inspiring step towards environmental conservation. He further stated, “Rivers, ponds, wells, lakes and wetlands are not merely water sources, but symbols of life-giving nature. Protecting them is our collective responsibility.”
Pragya Nirwani Leading a Mass Awareness Campaign
The founder of the ‘Women for Wetlands’ campaign and District President of the Mahila Morcha, Pragya Nirwani, is running a continuous awareness drive across the state for the conservation of wetlands. Under this initiative, women are being mobilized to protect ponds, canals, wells, rivers and other natural water bodies. Pragya Nirwani also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister seeking Ramsar Site status for the Gidhwa–Parsada–Nagdha Bird Sanctuary located in Nawagarh.
Chief Minister Shri Sai remarked, “Women are the first custodians of nature. When women come forward, the conservation of water sources will turn into a mass movement.”
During the poster unveiling ceremony, Prasanna Awasthi, Prachi Sharma, Pranita Sharma, Arvika Awasthi, along with other dignitaries, were present.
