Under CM Bhajanlal Sharma, Rajasthan’s Dairy Sector Achieves Record Growth: Annual Turnover Reaches ₹10,000 Crore
Jaipur, Dec 2025 : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Rajasthan is witnessing unprecedented progress in the dairy and animal husbandry sectors. Along with a major improvement in the financial health of functional milk unions, the state is continuously expanding its milk processing capacity. Strengthening of the cooperative structure has brought significant positive changes to the economic and social lives of rural communities, marking an important milestone in the journey toward Developed Rajasthan–2047.
The State Government, aligning its policies with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of empowering women, youth, labourers, and farmers, has been working with strong commitment for the welfare of farmers and livestock rearers. As a result of this commitment, the annual turnover from milk production and cattle feed activities has risen from ₹8,000 crore to ₹10,000 crore per year. With this increase, the financial condition of milk unions has improved substantially, recording nearly 44% growth in annual profits. Earlier, 15 milk units were operating at a loss, but today all 24 milk units are running profitably.
₹1,000 Crore Fund for Expanding Capacity to 70 Lakh Litres
Continuous efforts are being made to strengthen the state’s dairy processing infrastructure. The existing capacity of 48 lakh litres per day has been increased to 54 lakh litres, with a target of reaching 70 lakh litres per day in the next two years. To achieve this, RCDF (Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Federation) has created an infrastructure fund of nearly ₹1,000 crore, and initiated the upgradation of milk plants located in Kota, Bharatpur, Alwar, Udaipur, and Jodhpur.
Upgradation of Narwa and Bassi Semen Stations
To improve the genetic quality of livestock, RCDF is upgrading the Narwa and Bassi semen stations under the National Gokul Mission. These stations are being equipped to produce 1 lakh sex-sorted semen doses annually, meeting both national and international demand for high-quality genetically improved semen.
As per the Chief Minister’s directions, a major statewide campaign has helped nearly one lakh new farmers join the cooperative movement, bringing positive changes to their livelihoods. To safeguard the economic interests of newly inducted members, RCDF has also increased the purchase price of milk wherever necessary.
RCDF continues to innovate and improve quality, efforts that have earned recognition at the national level. RCDF has been selected for the prestigious ‘Gopal Ratna Award’ in all three categories, the highest national honour in the dairy sector.
