K. Kavitha Signals 2029 Lok Sabha Bid, Charts Independent Political Path in Telangana

Hyderabad, Dec 2025 : Telangana Jagruthi President K. Kavitha on Monday made a significant political declaration, stating that she will contest the 2029 Parliamentary elections, marking a clear step towards re-entering active electoral politics. The announcement came during an interactive session on social media platform X, where Kavitha responded candidly to questions posed by netizens.

Replying with a brief but decisive “Yes” to a query on whether she would contest the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, Kavitha confirmed her long-term political intent. She also revealed that preparations are underway to launch a statewide membership drive for Telangana Jagruthi, her socio-political platform. The dates for the membership drive, she said, will be announced after the completion of her ongoing ‘Jagruthi Janam Baata’ tour.

Kavitha is currently undertaking a four-month-long padyatra across Telangana, which marks her first major public outreach programme after formally parting ways with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). She resigned from the party in September following her suspension over alleged anti-party activities and also stepped down as a Member of the Telangana Legislative Council. Despite distancing herself from the BRS, she has consistently maintained that her commitment to public issues remains unchanged.

During the online interaction, Kavitha struck a confident tone about her political future. When asked whether she could survive in Telangana’s crowded political landscape, she responded assertively, saying she would. She also hinted at an organisational expansion of Telangana Jagruthi beyond Hyderabad, stating that committees would be formed in every village across the state. “Slowly but strongly,” she said, underlining her emphasis on grassroots mobilisation.

Articulating her political vision, Kavitha said her goal is to build an equitably developed or “Samajika Telangana.” She highlighted youth and women empowerment as core priorities, stressing the need to create opportunities that align with people’s aspirations. She also underlined inclusivity, stating that Telangana Jagruthi aims to empower SC, ST and MBC communities and that this commitment is reflected in the composition of its committees.

Kavitha was sharply critical of the Congress-led government in Telangana under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Describing the administration as a “government of broken promises and failed commitments,” she claimed that public disappointment with the ruling dispensation is growing steadily.

Sharing her vision for governance, Kavitha said that if she were ever to become Chief Minister, she would work towards ensuring that parents in Telangana do not have to spend money on education. “Free education is the only way to empower the future of Telangana and India,” she said, outlining a welfare-driven approach.

On agrarian issues, Kavitha expressed concern over the continuation of farmer suicides in the state. Recounting her interaction with the family of a cotton farmer in Adilabad who died due to debt following crop loss, she said such tragedies reflect governmental neglect. She also announced plans to meet farmers affected by land acquisition for the proposed Pharma City, now renamed Future City.

Additionally, Kavitha alleged that the Singareni Collieries Company is being neglected by the present government and asserted that Telangana Jagruthi would continue its struggle alongside the HMS union, reinforcing her stance on labour and public sector issues.
