Raipur, December 2025 : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, the Chhattisgarh government has taken another historic decision during its two years of good governance to give fresh direction to agricultural and rural development in Jashpur district. With the objective of providing permanent irrigation facilities to farmers, administrative approval amounting to ₹199.49 crore has been granted for 11 major irrigation projects in the district. The implementation of these schemes is expected to significantly increase agricultural production and provide long-term stability to farmers’ incomes.

In line with the priorities of the state government, approval has been given for the construction, repair and renovation of barrages, anicuts, tanks and diversion schemes in Jashpur district. These projects will directly benefit thousands of farmers and substantially reduce dependence on rainfall.

Among the major irrigation schemes approved for Jashpur district are an allocation of ₹79.37 crore for the Maini River Barrage Lift Irrigation Scheme at Bagia, ₹37.09 crore for the repair and renovation of the Kunkuri Eeb Diversion Scheme, ₹4.27 crore for the Sahaspur Tank Scheme, and ₹10.36 crore for the Dumarjor (Dumaria) Diversion Scheme.

Once these irrigation projects are completed, adequate water availability will be ensured for both kharif and rabi crops in several villages of the district. Farmers will receive a regular supply of water for cultivation, leading to higher crop yields and strengthening agriculture as a sustainable source of livelihood.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai stated that the state government is continuously taking effective steps in the fields of irrigation, agriculture and rural development while keeping farmers’ interests as the top priority. The irrigation initiatives approved for Jashpur district are a direct reflection of good governance, sensitive administration and people-centric policies.
