Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel Inaugurates Kreeda Bharati’s Akhil Bharatiya Convention in Ahmedabad

Gandhinagar, December 2025: While inaugurating the Kreeda Bharati’s Akhil Bharatiya Convention, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India has been granted the hosting rights of the Commonwealth Games. On this proud occasion, Ahmedabad has also been selected, due to which the Kreeda Bharati convention is being held in Ahmedabad. He stated that this will provide a new direction to the sports sector.

He stated that Prime Minister has emphasised that development should take place in every sphere of life, with sports playing an important role in this process. In this context, he said that guided by this noble vision, the Prime Minister initiated the Khel Mahakumbh in Gujarat in 2010 to promote a strong sports culture. As a result of the Khel Mahakumbh, enthusiasm for sports has increased even in the rural areas of the state, and participation in the event has been rising steadily.

The Khel Mahakumbh, which began in 2010 with the participation of 16 lakh people, recorded participation of 72 lakh people in its 2025 edition. Moreover, owing to the success of the Khel Mahakumbh, around 16 talented players from Gujarat have gone on to represent the state and the country in national and international sports events.

Referring to ancient scriptures, the Chief Minister highlighted that sports have been an integral part of India’s culture and lifestyle since ancient times, with classical texts emphasising physical training, skill development through the 64 arts, and competitive sporting traditions, reflecting a deep-rooted spirit of sportsmanship in Indian civilisation.

While welcoming players, trainers, and volunteers from across the country attending the fifth convention of Kreeda Bharati, Chief Minister stated that the organisation is contributing to nation-building through sports by preserving and promoting traditional games rooted in Indian culture. He added that Kreeda Bharati nurtures values of patriotism and plays a vital role in shaping not only athletes but also responsible future citizens. He stated that under the leadership of the Prime Minister and the guidance of Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, the state government remains committed to organising around five world-class sporting events in the coming times as part of the Olympic prepations.

On this occasion, the Krida Jyot souvenir book was released by the Chief Minister.

At the three-day convention organised at Shree Kalki Tirthdham, Prernapith in Ahmedabad, players and volunteers associated with the Kreeda Bharati organisation from across the country will be present.

Kreeda Bharati’s Gujarat State President Shri Vivek Patel delivered the welcome address, extending a warm welcome to all participants. In addition, Akhil Bharatiya General Secretary Shri Rajji Chaudhary shared information about the convention and provided detailed insights into the Kreeda Bharati organisation.

This event was attended by the  President of Akhil Bharatiya Kreeda Bharati Shri Gopalji Saini, Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister and Working President of Kreeda Bharati Shri Chaitanyaji Kashyap, Gujarat Region Vice President Shri Minesh, City President Shri Anand, Gujarat Region Secretary Shri Chirag, and people associated with Kreeda Bharati from across the country.
