Severe cold wave: CM Yogi issues stern directives, all UP schools up to Class 12 closed till January 1

Gorakhpur : Taking cognisance of the biting cold and the prevailing severe cold wave conditions across Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the closure of all schools up to Class 12, across all boards (ICSE, CBSE, and UP Board), till January 1. The Chief Minister clarified that the safety of children is paramount during the cold wave, and any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated.

Officers to take the field, ensure arrangements
The Chief Minister has directed top officials of the government and administration to remain mobile in the field to personally assess the ground reality. The CM stated that in view of the intense cold, adequate arrangements for blankets and bonfires (alav) must be ensured at public places in all districts.

‘No person should sleep in the open’
The Chief Minister has issued special instructions to officials regarding the operation of night shelters (rain baseras). He stated that:

  • No person in the state should be forced to sleep in the open in this freezing cold.
  • All necessary facilities, including bedding, blankets, and cleanliness, must be ensured at all night shelters.
  • Officials must ensure that the needy receive relief material and shelter in a timely manner.
