Agriculture Cabinet to focus on agriculture-based employment-oriented industries : CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that farming is are deeply connected with our culture. Our traditional lifestyle, arts, and rich traditions originate from agriculture, which forms the foundation of celebrating Agriculture Lokrang. He said that Agriculture Lokrang–2026 should be celebrated with dignity and grandeur in Bhopal and other divisions and regions of the state.

The Chief Minister said that an Agriculture Cabinet will now be convened with the objective of inclusive development of agriculture-based, employment-oriented industries in the state. Events such as Farmer Welfare Fairs, Agriculture Gram Sabhas, conferences of buyers and sellers of advanced agriculture-related equipment, agriculture festivals, and farmer fairs will also be organized. He emphasized that farmers should receive the benefits of every government scheme.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that agricultural civilization is deeply rooted in our traditions; therefore, villagers, youth, and students should be emotionally connected with farming and agriculture. Successful farmers’ agri-business models should be showcased so that other farmers can draw inspiration from them.

The Chief Minister was chairing a meeting on Tuesday at Samatva Bhavan to review preparations for Agriculture Lokrang–2026, which will be celebrated from January 26 to 30, 2026.

He said that Agriculture Lokrang is, an effort to connect citizens and youth with agriculture at the Gram Panchayat and development block levels and to popularize it widely among the masses. During Lokrang, information about the government’s initiatives for agriculture and farmer welfare will be disseminated in major towns and cities through cultural and theatrical presentations and various competitions.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed that traditional customs and religious rituals should also be linked with agriculture-related themes. Programs should be designed in a way that enables natural public participation. Cultural entertainment programs should be implemented from the grassroots level upward, which will help create a positive environment towards agriculture among citizens.

He further said that to make Agriculture Lokrang a festival of the masses, competitions and activities such as wearing traditional attire (pagdi, dhoti, safa, etc.), promotion of collection and conservation of indigenous seeds, competitions for “Lakhpati Farmers,” best nurseries and gardens, and bicycle competitions should also be organized.

Create an attractive logo for Kisan Kalyan Varsh

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the government has declared 2026 as the “Kisan Kalyan Varsh.” To take this initiative to the masses, an attractive logo should be designed for the year. Farmers producing soybean, moong, urad, maize, and other crops should be invited to share their success stories with fellow farmers.

During the meeting, Secretary, Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development, Shri Nishant Varwade, informed that during Agriculture Lokrang–2026, various activities will be organized, including traditional rural games, farm and field-based events, songs related to crops, seasons, weather, and rituals, competitions based on indigenous agricultural knowledge, selection of progressive and innovative farmers from across the state and their direct interaction with the Chief Minister, open mic sessions, and “My Farmer, My Pride” sessions. In this session, farmers’ children will come on stage and express why farmers are the pride of the nation. Several other such activities will also be conducted.

The Veer Bharat Nyas, under the Culture Department, will also participate in the organization of Agriculture Lokrang. The event will integrate agriculture as a cultural festival, creating a people-centric celebration.

The meeting was attended by Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture, Tourism, Religious Trusts and Endowments Shri Dharmendra Singh Lodhi, Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office Shri Neeraj Mandloi, Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Alok Kumar Singh, Commissioner, Public Relations Shri Deepak Kumar Saxena, Cultural Advisor to the Chief Minister Shri Shriram Tiwari, and other senior officials.
