Uttar Pradesh Makes Strong Strides in EV Charging, Takes a Decisive Step Towards Green Transport
Uttar Pradesh has emerged as one of the leading states in the country in the field of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, marking a significant move towards green and sustainable transportation.
2316 EV Charging Stations Established in Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow, January 2026 : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is consistently taking concrete steps towards clean energy and green mobility. As EV charging infrastructure expands across India, Uttar Pradesh has made its presence strongly felt. Over the past five years, 2,316 electric vehicle charging stations have been established in the state. This achievement reflects not only the state’s growing urbanisation and industrial development but also the foresighted policies of the Yogi government.
Sandeep Yadav, CEO of Yahvi Group, said that the pace of establishing EV charging stations in Uttar Pradesh has accelerated significantly. He added that Yahvi Group has set up EV charging stations for trucks in Mathura and Vrindavan.
Uttar Pradesh’s Strong Share in the Charging Network

Out of the 29,151 EV charging stations installed across the country, Uttar Pradesh has made a notable contribution. Of the 2,316 charging stations in the state, 540 are fast chargers and 1,776 are slow chargers. This clearly indicates that the state government has developed a balanced charging network, keeping in mind the needs of both urban and semi-urban areas.
The reach of EV charging facilities is steadily expanding in major cities such as Lucknow, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Agra, strengthening the state’s electric mobility ecosystem.
Clear Policy and Vision of the Yogi Government
Positioning Uttar Pradesh as a leading state in electric mobility is a key priority of the government. To achieve this goal, an investment-friendly environment has been created across the state. Private companies and investors are being continuously encouraged to set up EV charging stations, helping accelerate infrastructure development and technological adoption.
Balancing Environmental Protection and Economic Growth
The Yogi government’s development agenda places equal emphasis on environmental protection. The expansion of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions and strengthen pollution control measures. In a large and densely populated state like Uttar Pradesh, this initiative is proving crucial in improving air quality. Reduced dependence on petrol and diesel will also provide long-term economic benefits.
Effective Coordination with the Central Government
Under the Central government’s FAME-I and FAME-II schemes, 9,576 EV charging stations have been installed nationwide, from which Uttar Pradesh has also benefited. Additionally, under the PM E-Drive scheme, a provision of ₹2,000 crore has been made for expanding EV charging infrastructure.
Roadmap for the Future
Experts believe that the number of electric vehicles in Uttar Pradesh will grow rapidly in the coming years. Keeping this in view, the Yogi government is working on strategies to develop charging stations along expressways, industrial areas, bus terminals, railway stations, and tourist destinations, ensuring readiness for a sustainable and green transportation future.
