Lucknow, January 2026 : In order to accelerate industrial investment in the state and strengthen revenue resources, the State Government is preparing to take another major step.

In this context, the Excise Department is deliberating on the new Excise Policy 2026-27. Under the new policy, the establishment of distillery plants in the state will be encouraged, along with serious consideration of various facilities to promote exports.

The State Government believes that to make the state’s economy self reliant, it is essential to increase revenue, attract investment, and create an industry friendly environment.

In line with this objective, the Excise Department was instructed to take concrete steps for revenue growth.

In compliance with these instructions, the department has decided to promote distillery plants, which will not only lead to an increase in revenue but also create employment opportunities at the local level.

To achieve this, the establishment of new distillery units in the state will be made simpler and more attractive.
Deliberations are underway to make the licensing process more transparent and time bound, rationalise the fee structure, and provide ease in necessary approvals.

This will increase investor’s confidence in the state and Uttar Pradesh will emerge as a major hub in the distillery industry.

It is noteworthy that through Nivesh Mitra, the single window system, and industry friendly policies, the state has received record investment proposals. The new Excise Policy is part of the same series.

The department is placing special focus on exports in the new Excise Policy. Deliberations are ongoing to ease the rules, simplify logistics, and provide additional incentives to make exports of spirit, alcohol, and related products manufactured in the state easier.

This will make the state’s products competitive in the international market and will also increase foreign exchange earnings. With the expansion of distillery plants, the Excise Department expects a significant increase in revenue.

At the same time, the demand for agriculture based raw materials will increase, benefiting farmers as well. Increased consumption of sugarcane, grains, and other agricultural products will strengthen the rural economy.

The expansion of the distillery industry is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities.
