Telangana Signs MoU with UPC–Volt for 100 MW AI Data Center at Bharat Future City
Davos, Jan 2026 : Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy, leading the ‘Telangana Rising’ delegation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UPC–Volt joint venture on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos. The agreement marks a significant step in Telangana’s push for advanced digital infrastructure.
Under the MoU, the joint venture between Netherlands-based UPC Renewables Group and Volt Data Centers will establish a 100 MW AI data center at Bharat Future City in Hyderabad. The project represents an investment of ₹5,000 crore over the next five years and will include a dedicated 100 MW renewable energy plant to meet the data center’s power needs.
During the discussions, the delegation engaged with Volt CEO Mr. Han De Groot, UPC Renewables (Asia Pacific) Co-founder Mr. Steven Zwane, and UPC Renewables India CEO Mr. Alok Nigam. The data center is expected to generate approximately 3,000 direct and indirect jobs during construction, with an additional 800 employment opportunities once operational.
Chief Minister Reddy congratulated Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu for facilitating the investment, emphasizing that the development of advanced digital infrastructure is crucial for transforming Telangana into a $3 trillion economy under the Telangana Rising 2047 vision.
Minister Sridhar Babu assured that the government would provide all necessary incentives and support for the establishment of advanced AI data centers, highlighting that the creation of a net-zero city is a key component of Telangana’s long-term growth strategy.
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, along with senior officials, was also present at the meeting. The MoU underscores Telangana’s commitment to promoting cutting-edge technology, renewable energy integration, and sustainable urban development while creating substantial employment and investment opportunities in the state.
This initiative further strengthens Telangana’s position as a global hub for innovation, AI, and renewable-powered digital infrastructure, complementing the state’s broader industrial and technological growth objectives under the Telangana Rising 2047 roadmap.
