Mumbai, Sept 2026 : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday re-elected Arun Singh Dhumal and M Khairul Jamal Majumdar to the Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council at its 95th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the board headquarters in Mumbai.
The two candidates were re-elected unopposed as no other nominations were filed for the two available positions. Dhumal, who is seeking another term as IPL chairman, and Majumdar, representing the Indian Cricketers' Association (ICA), will continue on the league's governing body.
BCCI electoral officer A.K. Joti confirmed the final list of valid nominations after completing the scrutiny process, clearing the way for the formal re-election of the two members.
The AGM also approved several financial, administrative and policy decisions. The general body unanimously cleared a revised payment structure and grade reclassification for domestic umpires and match referees.
The board formally adopted its audited statement of accounts for the 2025-26 financial year and approved the annual budget for 2026-27. It also appointed auditors for the upcoming financial year.
Looking ahead, the BCCI decided to organise grand celebrations to mark the 20th edition of the IPL in 2027. The board will also begin preparations for its centenary celebrations in 2028.
According to the BCCI, the centenary celebrations will be conducted over a full year, beginning in December 2027 and continuing through 2028. The events will commemorate a major milestone in Indian cricket's history.
On the policy front, the general body constituted a new Internal Committee under the BCCI's Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Policy. The board also approved and formally adopted an updated Age Verification Policy.
The AGM further included discussions with state cricket associations on improving support and infrastructure for differently-abled cricketers. The discussions focused on upgrading facilities and providing targeted resources to help players in this category develop their cricketing careers.
BCCI President Mithun Manhas, Vice-President Rajeev Shukla and Secretary Devajit Saikia were among the key office-bearers present at the meeting. Former BCCI president and India captain Sourav Ganguly, Saurabh Tiwary, Jaydev Shah, Rohan Jaitley and Abhishek Dalmiya also attended the AGM.
The meeting witnessed participation from representatives of several state associations. Ganguly represented the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), while former India fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad attended the meeting on behalf of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).
The decisions taken at the AGM cover the IPL's administration, domestic match officials, financial planning, player development and institutional policies as the BCCI prepares for the upcoming milestones in Indian cricket.
