DGP Holds Marathon Review Meeting, Issues Key Directives on Crime Control and Police Modernisation

Jaipur, April 2026 : Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma chaired a high-level range review meeting at the Police Headquarters, focusing on strengthening law and order across the state. The marathon session, which lasted over six hours, involved a detailed assessment of range-wise policing performance, implementation of innovations, and strategies to modernise the police system.

During the meeting, officials discussed a comprehensive action plan aimed at improving crime control and enhancing public service delivery. District-level best practices were also shared, helping shape a forward-looking roadmap for more effective policing.

Focus on Crime Control and Financial Crackdown

A major emphasis was placed on adopting a multi-pronged approach to curb serious crimes. The DGP directed that financial investigations be made mandatory in cases related to narcotics (NDPS), gangsters, and hardcore criminals. He instructed officers to identify and attach illegal assets of offenders as part of a broader strategy to weaken criminal networks.

Additionally, directions were issued to expedite the disposal of cases pending for more than five years, ensuring strict compliance with guidelines issued by senior crime officials.

Strict Action Against Repeat Offenders

Expressing concern over repeated offences by identified criminals, history-sheeters, and habitual offenders, the DGP instructed officers to take the strictest legal action against them. He urged officials to treat this as a major challenge and ensure such individuals are prevented from continuing criminal activities.

He also directed a campaign-style disposal of materials lying in police station storerooms (malkhanas) to improve efficiency and accountability.

Push for Technology and Citizen Services

Highlighting the role of technology in policing, the DGP stressed the need to maximise the use of the RajCop Citizen App to deliver services directly to the public. Officers were advised to submit innovative ideas to headquarters for integration into the main app rather than developing separate applications.

He also instructed officials to ensure proper functioning of CCTV cameras in police stations, along with regular recording. Improvements were sought in detection rates, challan percentages, and recovery processes.

Traffic Management and Infrastructure Improvements

In the area of road safety, the DGP called for the expansion of the ‘lane driving’ system introduced in the Jaipur range. Awareness campaigns at toll plazas will be intensified to reduce road accidents.

Police stations will also be upgraded, particularly reception areas, with facilities such as computers, CCTNS systems, and online entry mechanisms to ensure immediate digital registration of complaints and greater transparency.

Action Against False Cases

The meeting also reviewed the quality of investigations in cases related to crimes against women and those registered under the SC/ST Act. The DGP directed that strict legal action be taken against individuals filing false cases under relevant sections of law.

Innovative ‘Adopt a Police Station’ Initiative

An innovative initiative involving senior officers adopting police stations to improve their functioning was discussed. A presentation by the Jodhpur Police Commissionerate highlighted efforts to enhance resource management and strengthen police-public coordination. The DGP appreciated the initiative and encouraged replication across other regions.

Other Key Directives

The DGP issued several additional instructions, including strengthening the beat constable system to improve grassroots intelligence, ensuring quality disposal of complaints received through the 181 helpline, and enhancing monitoring of road safety measures by senior officers.

He also emphasised prompt registration and action in cybercrime cases, with district SPs personally monitoring complaints received through the 1930 helpline. The importance of CCTV surveillance and effective functioning of command centres was reiterated.

To ensure better coordination, officers were directed to maintain continuous feedback between field units and headquarters and submit immediate factual reports on any major incidents.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including heads of law and order, traffic, and special operations divisions, who shared insights and recommendations to further strengthen policing standards across the state.
