Pragatī Portal Symbolizes New Work Culture of New India: CM Vishnu Dev Sai

Raipur, Jan 29, 2026: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India and Chhattisgarh are steadily progressing toward good governance. Today, India has become the world’s fourth-largest economy, and the Pragatī digital platform plays a vital role in realizing the vision of a developed India. The platform reflects the alignment between government promises and actions, serving as a powerful example of good governance.

Speaking to journalists at the New Circuit House in Raipur, CM Sai said that Pragatī Portal is not only a review mechanism for large infrastructure projects but also an exemplary model of the new work culture of New India. The platform demonstrates the principle of “Minimum Government, Maximum Governance” in practice.

The CM emphasized that Indian democracy is regarded as a global model due to the effective coordination and cooperation between the central and state governments. Pragatī serves as an effective bridge between the Centre and states, ensuring better implementation of various schemes and projects.

CM Sai explained that the name PRAGATI stands for Pro-Active Governance And Timely Implementation, emphasizing prior planning and timely execution of projects. Beyond monitoring, the platform establishes accountability, increases transparency, and drives positive changes in governance culture. Previously, many projects were laid but lacked fixed timelines, often remaining incomplete for years. Pragatī was introduced to address delays, administrative bottlenecks, and coordination gaps.

Through the portal, the Prime Minister regularly reviews projects with state Chief Secretaries and central secretaries. Over 50 high-level review meetings have been conducted, leading to timely resolution of pending projects, underperforming schemes, and citizen grievances. So far, Pragatī has accelerated over 3,300 projects worth ₹85 lakh crore and significantly improved implementation of 61 schemes, including One Nation-One Ration Card, PM Jan Arogya Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, PM SVANidhi, and Swachh Bharat Mission. Complaint redressal in 36 sectors including banking, insurance, RERA, Jan Dhan Yojana, and maternity benefits has also been strengthened.

In Chhattisgarh, the platform is effectively used for 99 national infrastructure projects with investments totaling ₹6.11 lakh crore. Of these, 50 projects are completed, while the rest are progressing through various stages. The portal has recorded 200 state-related issues, of which 183 have been resolved, giving a 91% success rate. Key sectors like power, road transport, railways, coal, and steel have seen effective solutions: 24 power projects, 23 road projects, 14 railway projects, 7 coal projects, and 9 steel projects.

Projects such as the modernization of Bhilai Steel Plant and Lara Super Thermal Power Project, long delayed, have gained momentum through Pragatī, boosting industrial development and creating local employment opportunities. Similarly, issues in the Raipur-Kodebod four-lane road project related to land use and material supply were resolved via the portal.

CM Sai reiterated that the Chhattisgarh government is committed to timely, transparent, and accountable project execution, and several innovations in governance have drawn praise from Oxford University, recognized as effective mechanisms for developing economies. He noted that when the Prime Minister speaks of a developed India, it represents a complete roadmap, exemplified by innovations like the Pragatī platform.
