Opposition Alleges Trade Deal with US Burdens Farmers and Public, Questions National Interest

“Surrender in both oil and agriculture, India’s decisions are now being made by America” – Sanjay Singh

“By making American agricultural products tax-free, Modi ji has broken the backbone of Indian farmers” – Sanjay Singh

“Under pressure of the Epstein file and Adani summons, the country’s interests have been sold” – Sanjay Singh

“This decision is a bigger betrayal than the three black farm laws” – Sanjay Singh

New Delhi/Lucknow, February 2026 : Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said that today is a black day for crores of farmers and common people of India. Today, without taking the country into confidence, the Narendra Modi government has surrendered before America and laid the foundation of inflation and destruction of farmers. The surprising thing is that the information about this decision was not given by the Government of India, but by the President of America through a tweet, which proves that India’s economy and policy decisions are now being decided from Washington.

Sanjay Singh said that the American President publicly stated that now India will not buy oil from Russia, but will buy oil from America and Venezuela. This decision is against national interest. Venezuelan oil is of inferior quality, which is extremely expensive to refine, while American oil is far more expensive compared to Russian oil. Its direct impact will fall on the people of India and everything from petrol-diesel to every essential commodity will become expensive. He questioned under what pressure Prime Minister Narendra Modi pushed the country into the fire of inflation.

He said that an even more dangerous decision has been taken against farmers. The Modi government has decided to impose zero duty on all agricultural products coming from America. This means that cotton, wheat, vegetables and other agricultural products coming from America will be tax-free. Because of this, American agricultural products will be sold cheaply in the Indian market and there will be no buyer for Indian farmers’ produce. This decision will push crores of farmers of the country towards ruin.

Sanjay Singh said that 70 to 80 crore population of the country is directly or indirectly dependent on agriculture. Even today the Indian farmer feeds the country and is the backbone of the economy, but the Narendra Modi government has stabbed the farmer in both the back and the stomach. This is the same betrayal that was done through the three black farm laws, and now by giving open freedom to America, a conspiracy has been hatched to crush farmers once again.

He said that now the lapdog media will beat drums calling this decision an achievement as well. Till yesterday the same media was claiming that India was giving a reply to America, and today the same media will say what a big decision the Prime Minister has taken. But the truth is that India’s decisions are now coming out through the American President’s tweet, whether it is a ceasefire claim or India’s trade deal.

Sanjay Singh said that a statement of America’s Agriculture Secretary has come out, in which she is expressing happiness over this deal and congratulating Trump. It is clear that this agreement is beneficial for American farmers and corporates, not for Indian farmers. Warning the Prime Minister, he said do not underestimate the strength of the country’s farmers and do not push the country into the fire of inflation.

He questioned what compulsion Prime Minister Narendra Modi has that he is repeatedly selling India’s self-respect, honour and interests into the hands of America. Sanjay Singh said that recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name has been mentioned in the Epstein file and Adani has been sent summons from America in a scam case. Is this the pressure under which India’s agricultural market was opened for America and the decision to buy expensive oil was taken?

Sanjay Singh clearly said that the country wants to know what pressure the Prime Minister is under. He warned that if this trade deal is not withdrawn and the decisions taken against farmers and the common people are not cancelled, then a big movement will rise against the Modi government from the streets to Parliament.
