CM Yogi inaugurates the Dialysis Department at Shriram Laxmi Narayan Marwari Hindu Hospital in Varanasi
Varanasi : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lauded the Shriram Laxmi Narayan Marwari Hindu Hospital in Varanasi, highlighting its remarkable contribution to public service over the past 108 years. He praised the hospital as an outstanding example of the spirit of service, stating that operating a charitable institution for such an extended period is important and no ordinary feat.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the dialysis department at Shriram Laxmi Narayan Marwari Hindu Hospital on Saturday. During this, he said, “It is a challenging task for the people associated with the trust board to work as a better team and achieve the goal of correct, affordable, reliable health care.”
He congratulated the trust members for starting the dialysis facility in the hospital. He also inspected the hospital and enquired about the health of the patients.

The CM emphasized the significance of the year 1916 for Kashi, marking it as a pivotal moment in the city’s history. He noted that this year witnessed the establishment of Kashi Hindu University, a monumental center that embodies the vision of Malviya ji, encompassing Indian architecture, knowledge traditions, engineering, AYUSH, and modern medical systems. This institution has become a beacon that draws attention from across the nation and the world.
“1916 was the year when Mahatma Gandhi visited Kashi and paid homage at the Baba Vishwanath temple. It was also the year when the Hindu Hospital was founded, a charitable institution that continues to operate with the same spirit of service as when it was first established,” he added.
CM Yogi acknowledged the Kanodia family’s role in starting the hospital and praised the current trust board, led by Radheshyam Khemka, for their dedication in maintaining the founders’ vision. He commended the board members for their commendable contribution and the sustained commitment to the hospital’s mission.
Highlighting the introduction of OPD services at a nominal fee of Rs 10, CM Yogi recognized the immense challenge of providing affordable healthcare while preserving the goodwill and unity of the trust board officials, doctors, and paramedical staff.
He said that the increasing side effects of modern food habits and pollution, excessive use of chemical pesticides and excessive adulteration in all food items are affecting the organs (kidney, heart, lungs) of a person. Youth are suffering from sugar and blood pressure. In such situations, providing dialysis facility for Rs 500 is an excellent example of charity.
CM Yogi highlighted the state government’s strides in expanding healthcare access across Uttar Pradesh, particularly through the establishment of dialysis facilities in hospitals across almost all 75 districts. He emphasized that these services are provided free of charge to patients, with the government compensating operators at the rate of one thousand rupees per dialysis. He said that while financial compensation is necessary, the primary focus must remain on maintaining high-quality healthcare services.
The Chief Minister also pointed out that over 5.11 crore people in Uttar Pradesh have been issued golden health cards, the highest number in the country. These cards provide an annual health insurance cover of five lakh rupees to the poor, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder access to treatment. However, he stressed that quality care is paramount.
To achieve this, he suggested, “Hospitals should be empanelled to extend government-backed facilities to the underprivileged. By providing appropriate packages, assembling skilled teams, adhering to cleanliness standards, and consistently upgrading services, healthcare institutions can honor the vision of their founders, transforming them into centers of human excellence.”
The CM emphasized the profound spiritual and cultural significance of Kashi, noting that with the blessings of Baba Vishwanath, Maa Ganga, Lakshmi Narayan Temple, and Maa Annapurna, the city is well-equipped to advance in all areas, especially healthcare. He urged the local administration to ensure the smooth movement of ambulances in the city and assured that the government would address the request for enhanced healthcare facilities within a set timeframe.
“We will work to make healthcare services in Kashi correct, affordable, accessible, and reliable,” he said.
CM Yogi also praised the transformative changes brought about by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the healthcare sector, highlighting the progress in Uttar Pradesh toward the goal of “one district, one medical college.” He expressed confidence that within the next five to seven years, there will be no shortage of doctors and nursing staff in the country, ensuring a robust healthcare system.
He concluded by stating that delivering tangible results through dedicated efforts is the best tribute to the great leaders who have inspired the nation.
During the event, State Government Minister Anil Rajbhar, Dayashankar Mishra Dayalu, Ravindra Jaiswal, MLAs Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari, Saurabh Srivastava, Munish Kapoor, Trust Board Chairman Baijnath Prasad, Dr. DK Sinha, Trustee Ram Avatar Agrawal among others were present.
