Ukrainian Forces Destroy Key Bridge in Russia’s Kursk Region.

Ukrainian forces have claimed responsibility for destroying a strategically significant bridge in Russia’s Kursk region as part of their cross-border operations. The attack, reportedly targeting a bridge over the Seym River, was shown in video footage released by Ukrainian forces on Friday.

The Associated Press and other media sources reported that the bridge was crucial for Russian supply lines and its destruction could disrupt Russian military efforts in the area. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova confirmed the attack, noting that it was the first time Western-made rocket launchers, possibly American HIMARS, were used in the Kursk region. Zakharova also stated that the bridge was completely destroyed and that volunteers assisting with evacuations were killed in the attack.

In addition, a video from Sudzha, a town Ukrainian forces claim to have captured, displayed a sign at an underground shelter reading, “Peaceful people in the basement. There are no soldiers,” indicating efforts to minimize civilian casualties.

Ukrainian military commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that fighting continues across the entire frontline in the Kursk region. Syrskyi noted that Ukrainian forces had made advances of one to three kilometers in some areas and were continuing to capture Russian prisoners of war.

President Zelenskyy commented on the situation, highlighting the impact of the Ukrainian operations on Russian logistics and reserves. He emphasized that the ongoing losses for Russian forces are beneficial to Ukraine’s defense efforts.
