Serchhip DC Inspects Leng Village to Review Development Works under VVP–II

Serchhip, February 2026: The Deputy Commissioner of Serchhip District, Pu Paul L. Khuma, visited Leng village today to review the manner in which development works are to be taken up under the Vibrant Villages Programme II (VVP–II). Leng has been selected under VVP–II. A meeting was held at the Leng Village Council (VC) House with village leaders to discuss the formulation and inclusion of the Village Action Plan.

Besides the Deputy Commissioner, officials from line departments, members of the Village Council, and representatives of community organisations participated in the meeting. The departments and the Village Council had already submitted proposals for village-level development works. During the visit, the DC and his team inspected the proposed sites on the ground and held discussions on additional requirements for the overall development of Leng village.

The proposals submitted include construction of a Community Hall, improvement of the Leng–Zuva connecting road, construction of a large water storage tank, renovation of the sub-centre and school, along with other development works. All these proposals will be further examined by the District Committee.

For the implementation of VVP–II, a total of 109 villages from 16 RD Blocks in Mizoram have been selected by the Ministry of Home Affairs. In Serchhip District, the selected villages include Keitum under Serchhip RD Block, and Mualcheng, Lungkawlh, Bawktlang, North Vanlaiphai, Leng, and Sailulak under East Lungdar RD Block.

The Vibrant Villages Programme II, covering villages along the India–Myanmar and India–Bangladesh border areas, has been implemented since 2024. In Serchhip District, a total of seven (7) villages have been included under this programme. As a Central Sector Scheme, the funding will be provided 100 percent by the Central Government. Wherever possible, the scheme will be converged with ongoing Central Government schemes. In cases where convergence is not feasible, the matter will be examined at the MHA level.
