CM Bhupendra Patel Unveils Postage Stamp and Special Cover on ‘Kavant Ger Mela’

Gandhinagar, March 2026 : Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel unveiled a postage stamp and special cover highlighting the cultural significance of the Kavant Ger Mela in Gandhinagar.

Krishna Kumar Yadav, Postmaster General of the North Gujarat and South Gujarat regions, presented the first copy of the commemorative stamp and cover to the Chief Minister.

The release of this postage stamp on the famous tribal cultural festival held every year in Kavant in Chhota Udepur district marks an important step toward giving national recognition to Gujarat’s rich tribal traditions and cultural heritage.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister highlighted that the initiative would help showcase the state’s vibrant tribal culture and heritage at national and international levels.

Among those present at the event were Jashubhai Rathwa, Member of Parliament from Chhota Udepur; Abhesinh Tadvi, Member of the Legislative Assembly; Gargi Jain, Collector of Chhota Udepur; Senior Superintendent of Posts R. B. Thakor; and representatives of the Rathwa tribal community.

It is worth noting that the Kavant Ger Mela plays a vital role in preserving the tribal culture, art, and traditions of the state and passing them on to future generations. The festival is not merely a celebration but a living symbol of harmony with nature, social unity, and age-old traditions carried forward through generations.

The fair reflects a rich cultural heritage and the vibrant expression of tribal life while also highlighting the concept of “heritage with development.”
