Prime Minister Modi to Issue Certificates to 11 Lakh ‘Lakhpati Didis’; Ceremony on August 25th in Jalgaon

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Maharashtra on August 25, 2024. During his visit, Mr. Modi will felicitate 11 lakh Didis in Jalgaon for their outstanding achievements.

According to the Central Ministry of Rural Development, Prime Minister Modi will honor the ‘Lakhpati Didis’—women who have independently earned more than one lakh rupees annually, thereby setting an example in society by lifting their families out of poverty. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced this during a press conference.

At this event, the Prime Minister will also announce a community investment fund of Rs. 2500 crore and a bank loan of Rs. 5000 crore. According to Chouhan, this initiative will benefit 48 lakh members of 4.3 lakh self-help groups, and 25.8 lakh members of 2.35 lakh self-help groups.

Mr. Chouhan further stated that the Ministry of Rural Development has already trained 1 crore Lakhpati Didis and aims to train 3 crore Lakhpati Didis over the next three years. The district headquarters and cluster-level federations (CLFs) from 34 states and Union Territories will participate in this program via video communication. A list of 15 lakh new Lakhpati Didis is available state-wise, which includes 1,04,520 Lakhpati Didis from Maharashtra.
