Government Assures Full Support to Acid Attack Survivor: Minister Aditi Tatkare

Shirdi, April 2026: Maharashtra Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare visited the acid attack survivor from Wadgaonpan in Sangamner taluka at Pravara Hospital in Loni on Sunday and assured complete support from the government. She stated that the government stands firmly with the young victim and will bear the entire cost of her medical treatment.

The condition of the girl, who is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, is reported to be stable. However, due to her young age and sensitive skin, she will require further medical care, including a surgical procedure in the coming days. Doctors and hospital authorities are closely monitoring her condition and ensuring proper treatment.

The victim has also received counseling from a specialized counselor. Discussions were held to continue psychological support with the help of local medical professionals to aid her recovery process.

As directed by Guardian Minister Dr. Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, no financial burden will be placed on the victim’s family for her treatment. Under the Women and Child Development Department’s “Manodhairya” scheme, the victim will be provided immediate financial assistance of ₹1 lakh. Additionally, ₹3 lakh has already been granted to the family under the Justice Department’s Victim Compensation Scheme 2022 as emergency support.

Minister Tatkare stated that she has been in constant contact with the Superintendent of Police since the day of the incident. She also noted that the matter had been raised in the legislative assembly by the local MLA.

The police have intensified their investigation and are actively searching for the accused, with support from multiple agencies. The minister appealed to the victim’s family to share any additional information that could assist the investigation and also encouraged them to communicate any specific needs or concerns they may have.

During the visit, the victim’s mother, aunt, and uncle were present. Local legislators Kashinath Date and Amol Khatal, District Superintendent of Police Somnath Gharge, Additional Superintendent of Police Somnath Wakchaure, and District Women and Child Development Officer Sanjay Kadam were also in attendance.
