PM Modi to Address ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan’ in Delhi, Focus on Women-Led Development

New Delhi, April 2026 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a national-level ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan’ at Vigyan Bhawan on Monday at 11 a.m., highlighting the growing role of women in India’s development journey.

The Sammelan is expected to bring together a diverse group of participants, including prominent women achievers and experts from fields such as governance, academia, science, sports, entrepreneurship, media, social work, and culture. The event aims to create a platform for dialogue on enhancing women’s participation across sectors and strengthening their role in decision-making processes.

Organised as part of the Union government’s broader emphasis on women-led development, the programme seeks to underline the importance of empowering women at every level—from grassroots institutions like Panchayats to leadership positions in national governance. The increasing presence of women in public life and policymaking is expected to be a key focus of discussions during the event.

The Sammelan comes against the backdrop of the landmark Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, passed in September 2023. The legislation provides for one-third reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies, marking a major step toward enhancing women’s representation in India’s political framework. The move has been widely regarded as transformative, with the potential to reshape the country’s democratic landscape.

As attention shifts toward the implementation of this legislation, a special session of Parliament has been scheduled from April 16 to 18 to deliberate further on the rollout of women’s reservation. The Sammelan is expected to build momentum around this initiative and reinforce the government’s commitment to inclusive governance.

According to official sources, the event will also highlight the importance of women’s active participation in shaping India’s future, particularly in the context of the country’s long-term vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047, often referred to as ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.

Over the years, the Union government has consistently positioned women-led development as a cornerstone of its growth strategy. Initiatives aimed at improving access to education, healthcare, financial inclusion, and entrepreneurship opportunities for women have been central to this vision.

The ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan’ is expected to further strengthen this narrative by celebrating achievements, addressing challenges, and charting a path forward for greater gender equality and empowerment. By bringing together voices from across sectors, the event seeks to reinforce the idea that empowering women is essential for achieving inclusive and sustainable national progress.
