Pune, April 2026 : Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the government will extend support to charitable institutions working with a spirit of service. He was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Lata–Asha Mangeshkar Institute of Medical Sciences hospital project.
He stated that the hospital project will include all necessary facilities for treating patients, and many individuals are contributing to this initiative. The government will also try to support such charitable projects. Adequate road access and water supply to the hospital will be ensured through the municipal corporation. The government is also considering providing concessions in premiums charged for granting permissions to buildings of charitable institutions.
The project is being developed by the Lata Mangeshkar Medical Foundation at Nandoshi. Fadnavis said that there is a growing need for affordable and quality healthcare for every individual. While charitable institutions often show professionalism in running such projects, he highlighted that the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital has demonstrated how service should be carried out with compassion. He expressed confidence that the new hospital project will offer similar care, with facilities such as multiple treatment systems, rehabilitation centres, and a cancer care unit.
He also praised the Mangeshkar family for their service to the nation along with their contribution to music, noting that they have consistently helped people during times of crisis.
Paying tribute to Asha Bhosle, the Chief Minister said she transformed life’s hardships into positivity and had an energetic personality, performing even at an advanced age with remarkable dedication.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said the project would bring new hope to thousands of patients and provide humane care. He suggested introducing music therapy at the hospital, highlighting that the voices of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle are like divine blessings.
RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat said that service naturally follows a sense of belonging and emphasised that affordable healthcare and education should be accessible to all.
The hospital, being developed over 40 acres, aims to become one of the country’s major healthcare facilities, serving especially the poor and needy while preserving the legacy of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle.
