Vijay Steps Up Campaign with Dual-Seat Strategy, Holds Roadshows in Perambur and Tiruchi East

Chennai, April 2026 : Actor-politician C. Joseph Vijay, president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has intensified his election campaign with back-to-back outreach programmes across key constituencies, as he contests from both Perambur in Chennai and Tiruchi East.

A day after conducting an extensive door-to-door campaign in the Perambur Assembly constituency, Vijay is set to continue his high-energy campaign in Tiruchi East on Sunday evening. According to party sources, he will depart from Chennai at around 2 p.m. in a private aircraft and arrive in Tiruchi shortly thereafter.

The campaign in Tiruchi East is scheduled between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., during which Vijay will cover several prominent localities in the constituency. His outreach is expected to begin near the airport on Wireless Road, followed by a roadshow passing through Thendral Nagar, KK Nagar Bus Stand, Kajamalai Road, EVR College Road, Tamil Nadu Hotel junction, Kozhipannai Road, and Kottapattu.

Addressing the public from an open vehicle, Vijay is likely to seek support for TVK candidates in the upcoming Assembly elections. His campaign style, combining direct interaction with voters and high-visibility roadshows, has drawn significant attention, particularly as the party attempts to establish a strong foothold in the state’s political landscape.

Authorities have granted permission for the Tiruchi campaign, subject to strict compliance with election regulations. The Returning Officer approved the programme after Vijay’s team obtained necessary clearances from the Election Commission and local police authorities. However, officials have imposed a detailed set of conditions to ensure adherence to the Model Code of Conduct and to maintain public order.

Among the key restrictions, political flags must not be placed in a way that obstructs traffic, and the campaign must strictly follow all election guidelines. The use of unauthorised posters, banners, or party flags has been prohibited at campaign sites. Additionally, authorities have banned the use or placement of any hazardous or explosive materials during the event.

Officials have also emphasised that campaigning must be conducted only within the permitted time frame and at designated locations. In total, 27 conditions—issued by the police and other departments—have been laid down, which organisers are required to follow without exception.

After completing his Tiruchi East schedule, Vijay is expected to return to the airport by 7 p.m., marking the end of a tightly planned campaign day.

With campaigning entering its final and most intense phase ahead of polling, Vijay’s decision to contest from two constituencies is being closely watched. His aggressive outreach strategy signals TVK’s ambition to expand its political presence and make a significant impact in Tamil Nadu’s evolving electoral landscape.
