University will prove to be a milestone in bringing prosperity to farmers of eastern UP and increasing their income: Chief Minister

Kushinagar, June 2026 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday inspected the under-construction Mahatma Buddha Agriculture and Technology University in Kushinagar. He also interacted with journalists during the visit.

The Chief Minister said, “The university, being built at a cost of around Rs 450 crore, will prove to be a milestone in bringing prosperity to the lives of farmers in eastern Uttar Pradesh and increasing their income.”

He said the government’s intention is that the university should be completed and become operational on time. The project will be completed in a time-bound manner.

He expressed hope that he would return in September or October for its inauguration. Before that, the Agriculture Minister will visit to complete all formalities required for starting the academic session so that the agriculture university can begin functioning in Kushinagar.

After inspecting the university, Chief Minister Yogi said, “Preparations are underway to start the academic session and admissions will begin from this session itself. For the next two to three months, classes will be arranged in a rented building or through an alternative arrangement with the support of the district administration.”

He said, “The university will not only provide modern technology to farmers but will also play a major role in reducing production costs, increasing output and multiplying farmers’ income.”

The Chief Minister stated, “Kushinagar is no longer a backward district and is now free from disease, disturbances and disorder. Criminal activities and mafia operations have been stopped. Encephalitis has been completely eliminated from the district.”

He said Kushinagar is now establishing new benchmarks of development in a festive atmosphere.

The Chief Minister informed that a medical college, a technology university, new highways and four-lane and two-lane roads are being developed in the district. The Gorakhpur-Siliguri route is also passing through Kushinagar.

He said, “Kushinagar is moving ahead with endless possibilities for development. The Deoria-Kushinagar four-lane road has already been approved. Under the North-South Corridor project, plans have been made to extend connectivity from Padrauna not only to Kasya and Deoria but also to Prayagraj and beyond.”

He added that the distance to Lucknow has now been significantly reduced.

CM Yogi said, “Once the Gorakhpur-Siliguri route is connected, an economic corridor from Gorakhpur to Shamli will also be developed. Along with increasing per capita income, the district has witnessed significant improvement in roads and infrastructure.”

He said an international airport has already been provided in Kushinagar. With the arrival of new aircraft, air services will also begin from the airport.

Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Kushinagar MP Vijay Dubey, Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan, MLA Mohan Verma, Vivekanand Pandey and others were present during the press interaction.
