Record Foreign Investment of Rs 3.14 Lakh Crore in Two and a Half Years – Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai: Maharashtra has retained its top position in attracting foreign investment, accounting for 52.46% of the country’s total foreign investment during the first quarter of the 2024-2025 fiscal year (April to June), according to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Sharing details about foreign investments in the state, Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis noted that Maharashtra received Rs 3.62 lakh crore in foreign investment between 2014 and 2019. Remarkably, in just two and a half years, the current government has already attracted Rs 3.14 lakh crore in foreign investment, and with the second-quarter data yet to be released, this figure is expected to rise further.

Thanks to its industry-friendly policies, Maharashtra has maintained its number one position in foreign investments for the past two consecutive years. The first quarter of 2024-2025 saw the highest level of investment in the state. Out of the national total of Rs 1.34 lakh crore in foreign investments during this period, Maharashtra alone secured Rs 70,795 crore, or 52.46%. This amount exceeds the combined investments in Karnataka, Delhi, Telangana, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

In 2022-23, Maharashtra attracted Rs 1.18 lakh crore in foreign investments, more than the combined totals of Karnataka, Delhi, and Gujarat. In 2023-24, it brought in Rs 1.25 lakh crore, more than double Gujarat’s total and more than Karnataka’s combined.

  • 1st: Maharashtra – Rs 70,795 crore
  • 2nd: Karnataka – Rs 19,059 crore
  • 3rd: Delhi – Rs 10,788 crore
  • 4th: Telangana – Rs 9,023 crore
  • 5th: Gujarat – Rs 8,508 crore
  • 6th: Tamil Nadu – Rs 8,325 crore
  • 7th: Haryana – Rs 5,818 crore
  • 8th: Uttar Pradesh – Rs 370 crore
  • 9th: Rajasthan – Rs 311 crore
