Invitation to Apply for Preferred Registration Numbers for Four-Wheelers

The MH 01 ER series for non-transport private four-wheelers is nearing completion. Following this, the MH 01 EV series, which is currently available for advance registration, will be regularized. Vehicle owners interested in securing attractive or preferred registration numbers from this series are requested to collect and submit the prescribed application form along with the applicable fee at Window No. E-18 of the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Mumbai (Central), by 12:00 PM on January 13, 2025.

If multiple applications are received for the same number, an auction will be held on the same day, January 13, at 2:00 PM, to allocate the registration number. The RTO Mumbai (Central) office handles the registration of new two-wheelers and four-wheelers. As per the Maharashtra Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, vehicle owners can reserve attractive or preferred registration numbers by paying the prescribed advance fee.

Any available registration number can be reserved using the prescribed application form. To reserve a number, the specified fee must be paid via a demand draft addressed to the Regional Transport Officer, Mumbai (Central). Reserved numbers are valid for 180 days, and vehicles must be registered under the reserved number within this period. Application forms for reserving vehicle numbers are available at Window No. E-18 of the RTO office, and staff have been appointed to assist applicants with the process.

When entering the reserved registration number into the Vehicle 04 system during data entry, the reserved number is allotted to the vehicle. To reserve a number, applicants must provide documents such as a photo ID, address proof, PAN card, and the vehicle purchase receipt.
