FRS Technology for Ministry Entry to Enhance Security and Transparency

Mumbai : The implementation of Facial Recognition System (FRS) technology for entry into the Ministry will enhance security, improve transparency, and streamline government operations. The administration has urged all government officials, employees, and public representatives to complete the necessary registration to ensure smooth entry into the premises.

This system will verify the identity of every individual entering the Ministry, preventing unauthorized access and strengthening security. It will also curb illicit activities, regulate crowd movement, and improve efficiency in government operations. With FRS in place, only authorized personnel will gain entry, expediting public service processes.

Special provisions have been made to facilitate the entry of officials, employees, and public representatives, ensuring a hassle-free experience. However, registering for the facial detection system is mandatory for all concerned. The administration has instructed immediate uploading of facial recognition data for officials and employees to update the system and enable seamless access.

To enhance Ministry security, entry for officials and employees will be based on facial recognition and RFID cards. The Information Technology Department has submitted details of 10,500 officials and employees, and facial recognition systems have been installed at all entry points by the implementing agency. The system has been launched and is operational from January 2025, enabling entry based on facial recognition and RFID cards for officials, employees, and contractual staff.

Given the Ministry’s high sensitivity and importance, the government has prioritized its security. A two-phase integrated security and surveillance project has been initiated. Phase 2 of this project is a natural extension of Phase 1 and is currently being implemented.

For Phase 2, administrative approval has been granted for implementation, annual maintenance, and repairs. Additionally, the “Digi Pravesh” mobile app-based online system will ensure secure entry for officials and employees from various regional offices and administrative wings.
