Sanatan Dharma ensures safety of global humanity: CM Yogi

Gorakhpur : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that Sanatan Dharma is truly the religion of humanity. He explained that it is the faith that represents the values of all humankind. “If Sanatan Dharma is protected, then not only will India remain secure, but the entire world will also be safe,” he added.

The CM was addressing the abhinandan samroh of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Vidhushekhar Bharati Sannidhanam, who arrived in Gorakhpur with the Vijay Yatra under the auspicious blessings and divine orders of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Shri Shri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam of Sringeri Sharada Peetha, ahead of his Shankar Vachan. During this, he said, “Sanatan Dharma is eternal.”

Throughout history, it has faced numerous challenges, but the divine tradition of incarnations, saints, sages, and great souls have safeguarded Sanatan Dharma and ensured the protection of its followers, the CM added.

The program was held at the auditorium of Mahant Digvijaynath Smriti Bhavan in Gorakhnath Temple, wherein the CM honored Jagadguru Shankaracharya by draping a shawl over him and presenting him with gifts.

CM Yogi said that while many sects, communities, and religions across the world have tried to impose their beliefs on others, Sanatan Dharma does not enforce its ideology upon anyone. “Instead, it paves the way for living life with freedom, openness, and simplicity.”, he remarked.

He emphasized that no other belief system offers as much liberty and ease as Sanatan Dharma. CM Yogi further mentioned that Sanatan Dharma cannot be confined to a single definition; rather, it is an expression of gratitude towards both action and the doer.

He also pointed out that this concept is mentioned in the Valmiki Ramayana. The Chief Minister stated that there was a time when it seemed like Sanatan Dharma might disappear, but it was revived by Adi Shankaracharya.

To sustain and propagate the tradition of Sanatan Dharma, Adi Shankaracharya undertook the Vijay Yatra, engaged in scriptural debates, and established four religious centers—Jyotir Math in the north, Jagannath in the east, Dwarka in the west, and Sringeri in the south.

He mentioned that he has personally had the privilege of visiting Sringeri Peeth multiple times. The Gorakshpeethadheeshwar also mentioned that Sringeri Peeth’s tradition has had a historic connection with Gorakshpeeth.

In 1977, during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, the revered Shankaracharya of Sringeri Peeth visited Gorakshpeeth. Later, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Bharati Teertha Maharaj also visited, and now, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Vidhushekhar Bharati has arrived.

“Shankaracharya Vidhushekhar Bharati first visited Uttar Pradesh for the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, followed by his journeys to Kashi and Ayodhya, blessing followers of Sanatan Dharma along the way before reaching Gorakhpur. Wherever Shankaracharya Ji traveled, people welcomed him with great joy and reverence,” he added.

The CM further said that the Prayagraj Mahakumbh is sending a message of unity to the world. With 14 days remaining in the 45-day-long Mahakumbh, approximately 48 crore devotees have already taken a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam over the past 31 days. He described this as a remarkable example of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat”.

Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he emphasized that the essence of Mahakumbh lies in unity, which strengthens the nation’s integrity. CM Yogi also highlighted the grand transformation of Kashi Vishwanath Dham and the divine construction of the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya after a 500-year-long wait. He stated that the rejuvenation of Kashi and Ayodhya is a source of immense pride and joy for every follower of Sanatan Dharma.
