Rekha Gupta to Take Oath as Delhi’s New Chief Minister on February 20
Rekha Gupta has been appointed as the new Chief Minister of Delhi. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced her selection on Wednesday evening after she was unanimously elected as the legislative party leader. Gupta, an MLA from Shalimar Bagh, will take the oath of office on February 20 at Ramlila Maidan in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Ministers from NDA-ruled states.

This marks BJP’s return to power in Delhi after 27 years. In the recently concluded assembly elections, the party secured a decisive victory, winning 48 out of 70 seats and defeating the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Following the win, speculation surrounded the choice for the chief ministerial post, which was put to rest with Gupta’s selection.
Rekha Gupta will be Delhi’s fourth female Chief Minister after Sushma Swaraj, Sheila Dikshit, and Atishi. The grand swearing-in ceremony is expected to host around 1.5 lakh attendees. Invitations have also been extended to former Chief Ministers Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi.
With her appointment, Gupta is set to lead Delhi under BJP’s governance, bringing a new chapter to the capital’s political landscape.
