Nidaan Portal

The Government has undertaken various information technology-driven initiatives in the field of drug law enforcement. Some of these initiatives are as follows:

  • Narco Coordination (NCORD) Portal (accessible at https://narcoordindia.in/) serves as a centralized gateway for all drug-related and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) information. It connects stakeholders across all four tiers, from the district and state levels to central ministries, including all Drug Law Enforcement Agencies (DLEAs).
  • National Integrated Database on Arrested Narco-Offenders (NIDAAN) Portal has been developed to assist DLEAs and other investigative agencies in conducting investigations and proactive policing. It provides data on narcotics offenders involved in offences under the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
  • Crime & Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) aims to interlink all police stations under a unified software application. It facilitates investigations, data analytics, research, and policy-making while also providing citizen services such as complaint reporting and tracking, as well as antecedent verifications.
  • A Task Force on Darknet and Cryptocurrency has been established under the Multi-Agency Centre (MAC) mechanism. It focuses on monitoring online platforms facilitating narco-trafficking, sharing intelligence on drug trafficking among agencies and MAC members, intercepting drug networks, continuously analyzing trends, identifying modus operandi and key nodes, updating databases, and reviewing relevant laws and regulations.
  • The Government has launched the MANAS Helpline (1933) as a unified platform for citizens to report drug-related issues through multiple communication channels.
  • The NIDAAN Portal, exclusively for use by Drug Law Enforcement Agencies, has become an effective tool in connecting criminal networks. It aids in linking previous involvements, conducting fingerprint searches, analyzing interconnections, dismantling networks, monitoring habitual offenders, carrying out financial investigations, and making detention proposals under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act, 1988. Additionally, it helps in tracking the status of current cases, bail, parole, handlers, and more.

This information was provided by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Shri Nityanand Rai, in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
