Amid Rising Tensions at the International Border, Chief Minister Holds Cabinet Meeting — Urges 24/7 Vigilance, Coordination, and Public Awareness
Jaipur : In view of the ongoing tense situation along the India-Pakistan international border, Rajasthan Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma convened a cabinet meeting on Friday at the Chief Minister’s Office to review administrative and disaster relief preparedness. He instructed all in-charge ministers, public representatives, and secretaries to maintain constant communication within their respective regions and ensure the availability of essential resources and facilities.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized that due to Rajasthan’s long international border, the responsibility of the state’s residents increases significantly. He appealed to the public to refrain from spreading or believing in misleading and rumor-driven news on social media and to rely only on official information issued by the government.
Following the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Premchand Bairwa and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Jogaram Patel held a press briefing, stating that the cabinet discussed all essential steps and preparedness measures to be taken in an emergency. The Chief Minister directed local administrations to implement all necessary instructions issued by both the central and state governments.
The Deputy Chief Minister informed that the government has initiated the process of filling vacant posts in border districts on priority. Orders have been issued to fill vacant posts in electricity, water supply, and medical and health departments, as well as for sub-divisional officers, tehsildars, and deputy tehsildars in these districts. Relief funds of ₹5 crore each have been sanctioned for Barmer, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Sri Ganganagar, and ₹2.5 crore each for Jodhpur, Hanumangarh, and Phalodi, by relaxing rules under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. These funds will be utilized for emergency relief and support activities as needed.
Additionally, ₹19 crore has been sanctioned from the Disaster Management Fund to provide essential equipment and resources across districts. Additional forces from the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary (RAC), SDRF, and Border Home Guards are being deployed in the border regions. Police and administrative departments have been instructed to remain on high alert 24/7. More fire tenders and ambulances are also being made available in these areas.
Shri Patel added that the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure adequate stocks of food grains, medicines, and other essential commodities. It was also decided to avoid organizing large public gatherings in border districts. Relevant agencies have been instructed to coordinate and, if necessary, enforce blackouts and restrict movement on roads and railways at night for safety.
Blood donation organizations and regular donors have also been activated to meet potential emergencies. Public representatives have been urged to motivate the public to follow government advisories and instructions and to prevent the spread of misinformation by monitoring even the smallest of incidents.
