Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai Flags Off Hydrogen Fuel Truck
A Historic Step Towards Zero Carbon Emissions and Green Energy
Raipur : Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today flagged off a hydrogen fuel logistics truck from his official residence in the capital. Marking the official launch, he handed over the truck key to the driver after signing it himself. He extended best wishes to CSPGCL and Adani Natural Resources for this innovative initiative and described it as a revolutionary step in steering both Chhattisgarh and the nation toward a greener energy future.
The Chief Minister emphasized that Chhattisgarh is consistently progressing, and this marks a new milestone in its development journey. He recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to green energy and the national goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070, calling this initiative a significant contribution toward that mission. He also highlighted its role in balancing industrial development with environmental protection.
Given Chhattisgarh’s mineral wealth, the deployment of hydrogen trucks for mineral transportation will notably reduce carbon emissions. He stated that the state prioritizes green technology and innovation alongside traditional resources, proving that development and environmental conservation can go hand in hand.
Dr. Vinay Prakash, CEO of Adani Enterprises (Natural Resources), called the initiative a milestone in sustainable mining practices. The event was also attended by Chandrahas Chandrakar, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Seed Development Corporation, Sanjeev Katiyar, Managing Director of CSPGCL, and other Adani Group representatives.
Hydrogen, an abundant element, emits no harmful pollutants. Hydrogen fuel cell trucks match diesel trucks in range and load capacity but emit only water vapor and warm air while operating with minimal noise. This is crucial for the mining sector, which predominantly uses diesel-powered machines.
Each smart truck will have three hydrogen tanks, capable of carrying 40 tons over a distance of 200 km. Jointly developed by Indian and international partners, this project is a collaborative effort by CSPGCL and Adani Natural Resources, with the truck set to transport coal from the Gare Palma III coal block in Raigarh to state power plants—paving the way for a greener future in Chhattisgarh.
