5 Dead, Dozens Injured in School Bus Bombing in Pakistan’s Balochistan
Islamabad – A tragic terrorist attack in Pakistan’s Khuzdar district of southwestern Balochistan province has left at least five people dead and over 40 injured. The victims include three school students, while many of the injured are students and staff members who were aboard a school bus targeted by a suicide bomber.
According to officials, the attack occurred on Wednesday in the Zero Point area of Khuzdar when an explosive-laden vehicle was detonated near the school bus. The blast caused massive destruction, completely destroying the bus and severely injuring several of its occupants.
Khuzdar Deputy Commissioner Yasir Iqbal Dashti confirmed the casualties, stating that rescue operations were immediately launched. Emergency response teams and law enforcement personnel rushed to the scene to assist victims and transport the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Eyewitnesses reported a powerful explosion, describing the horrifying aftermath of the blast and the devastating condition of the school bus. The local media confirmed that the bus was entirely destroyed by the impact of the bomb.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of Pakistan’s military, issued a strong condemnation of the attack. Labeling the bombing as a targeted strike on “innocent school-going children,” the ISPR vowed that those responsible — including the planners, facilitators, and perpetrators — would be identified and brought to justice.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also denounced the attack in strong terms, expressing grief and outrage over the targeting of young students. He offered condolences to the families of the victims and assured the public that the government would take all necessary steps to bring the attackers to justice.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. However, Balochistan has seen a rise in insurgent and extremist violence in recent years, with multiple attacks targeting civilians, law enforcement, and infrastructure.
The bombing has sparked national and international concern, particularly due to the targeting of a school vehicle, which is widely viewed as a heinous act of terrorism against children and educators. Officials say the investigation is ongoing, and heightened security measures are being implemented in the region to prevent further incidents.
This brutal attack has once again highlighted the persistent security challenges in Pakistan’s Balochistan province and has drawn renewed attention to the need for greater protection of educational institutions and vulnerable civilians in conflict-prone areas.
