Resettlement package for project-affected people initiated by Guardian Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar
Chandrapur : The long-pending resettlement issue of Baranj Mokasa, Chek Baranj, Tanda, and Piparbodi villages in Bhadravati taluka, due to the open coal mine of Karnataka Power Corporation Limited, has finally been resolved. This has been achieved through the initiative of State Forest, Cultural Affairs, Fisheries Minister and Guardian Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar. Guardian Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar continuously pursued the grievances of the project-affected people with Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy. As a result of his persistent efforts, a resettlement package of 40 crore rupees has been announced for 328 families. On Friday, at the Planning Bhavan, Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar distributed cheques amounting to 2.73 crore rupees to 23 beneficiaries as part of this initiative.
During the event, District Collector Vinay Gowda G.C., Chief Executive Officer Vivek Johnson, Additional Superintendent of Police Reena Janbandhu, Municipal Commissioner Vipin Paliwal, Deputy Collector Dagdu Kumbhar (Land Acquisition), Atul Jatale (Rehabilitation), Dr. Mangesh Gulwade, Devarao Bhongale, Narendra Jeevatode, Ramesh Rajurkar, Sarpanch of Baranj Mokasa Manisha Thengane, Praveen Thengane, and others were present.
Karnataka Power Corporation Limited shut down the Koilkhan mine from 2015 to 2021. After the mine reopened, the company did not provide any compensation to the affected families. To address the rehabilitation needs of these families during the closure period, District Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar took initiative. In this context, he directly met with Central Coal Minister Shri. Reddy in Delhi to highlight the issues faced by the affected families. Finally, a rehabilitation package worth ₹40 crore was announced for 328 families in Baranj Mokasa, Tanda, and Chekbaranj.
At present, Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar stated, “I am firmly committed to the welfare of project-affected people. Those whose lands were taken away will receive justice, as Central Coal Minister Kishan Reddy will visit Chandrapur to address citizens’ concerns. Those who received financial aid under the rehabilitation package will ensure that these funds are secured. Further, steps will be taken to ensure that all eligible citizens receive the benefits of the rehabilitation package.” Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar also provided testimony confirming that no one will be deprived of the benefits of the rehabilitation package.
The beneficiaries who received the rehabilitation package include: Shyamrao Balpane, Daulat Balpane, Sudhakar Balpane, Dadaji Nikhade, Tarabai Palkar, Baban Salunkhe, Eknath Tulankar, Ashok Punwatkar, Mayabai Devgade, Sushila Dahake, Shankar Kathwate, Suryabhan Dhonge, Suman Dhonge, Sanjay Dhonge, Laxman Kove, Nilekanth Meshram, along with Devarav Parachake, Bhaorav Parachake, Vishwanath Jiwatode, Kashinath Jiwatode, Shashikala Chalamure, Parasram Ghate, Hanuman Bhoyar. In total, ₹2.73 crore has been disbursed to these individuals as compensation for their employment loss under the transformation.
Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund Distribution: Under the auspices of Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, Swati Harshal Parakhi and Lata Balu Gedam received ₹1 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund.
