Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Participates in ‘Run for Yoga’ Event at M.K.P College, Dehradun

On Sunday, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the ‘Run for Yoga’ program organized at M.K.P. College, Dehradun. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also led a walk from Gandhi Park to M.K.P. College to spread awareness about yoga among youth, the elderly, and women.

The Chief Minister urged everyone to actively participate in the upcoming International Yoga Day. He emphasized the collective responsibility to take the ancient tradition of yoga to every individual. He stated that the sages and saints developed this extraordinary discipline of uniting body, soul, and mind through yoga. Yoga acts as a life-enhancing force for the entire world. It promotes a healthy and disciplined life. Today, the world is increasingly drawn to the practice of yoga.

The Chief Minister said that by incorporating yoga into daily life, not only can individuals maintain physical and mental well-being, but it also fosters positivity in society. He highlighted that it was Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi who proposed the observance of International Yoga Day on June 21 at the United Nations General Assembly, a proposal that was embraced globally.

He further stated that Uttarakhand is a land of yoga, AYUSH, and spirituality. The state government is actively working towards making Uttarakhand a global hub for yoga and wellness tourism. Recently, the state approved a new yoga policy, under which a subsidy of up to ₹20 lakh is being provided for the development of yoga and meditation centers.

The Chief Minister mentioned that already operational yoga centers in the state are being further promoted. Additionally, a grant of up to ₹10 lakh is being provided to encourage research in the fields of yoga, meditation, and naturopathy. Uttarakhand has immense potential for yoga and wellness, and the state government is consistently working in this direction.

He appealed to everyone to adopt a disciplined and healthy lifestyle.

Present on the occasion were MLA Shri Khajan Das, Shri Bharat Chaudhary, Vice President of the State-level Sports Council Shri Hemraj Bisht, AYUSH Secretary Shri Deependra Chaudhary, Additional Secretary Shri Vijay Kumar Jogdande, Shri Pradeep Jain, Shri Jitendra Negi, and other dignitaries.
