Devnani Visits Berlin Mayor’s Office and State Assembly — Boosts Indo-German Democratic Dialogue

Jaipur | Speaker of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, Mr. Vasudev Devnani, visited the Berlin Mayor’s Office and the German State Assembly on Tuesday as part of his official tour to Germany. In Berlin, the Mayor is formally referred to as the “Regierender Bürgermeister.”

During the visit, the Berlin Mayor informed Mr. Devnani that the State Assembly building is not only a symbol of Berlin’s administrative authority but also a living example of modern democratic excellence.

Mr. Devnani observed Berlin’s governance model, its democratic structure, and digital governance practices up close. He praised the city’s transparent and well-organized administrative setup. He called Berlin Senate’s administrative system and its model for implementing citizen-focused policies a “remarkable expression of organized democracy.”

Highlighting the visit’s significance, Mr. Devnani stated that Berlin’s administrative model, rooted in historical and cultural richness, clearly illustrates how a city can shape its future through technology, citizen participation, and transparency. He described the experience as highly inspiring for the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.

This historic visit, Mr. Devnani said, was not just a platform for the exchange of administrative insights, but also strengthened the shared democratic consciousness and dialogue between two ancient civilizations — India and Germany.

He congratulated the Berlin administration for their innovative and people-centric governance, adding, “This journey was from one thoughtful democracy to another — a precious confluence of experience, dialogue, and inspiration.”

Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Secretary of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, also accompanied Mr. Devnani during the visit.
