Accelerate Work on New Government Medical Colleges in Washim, Bhandara, Ambernath, and Palghar – CM Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai : New government medical colleges have been proposed in Washim, Bhandara, Ambernath, and Palghar. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed all concerned departments to work in coordination and ensure that land for the construction of these colleges is made available on a priority basis.

He was speaking at a review meeting held at Vidhan Bhavan to assess land availability and construction progress of ongoing medical colleges and hospitals. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Health Minister Prakash Ambedkar, Minister of State Meghana Bordikar, and Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar, among others.

CM Fadnavis stated that government approval has already been granted for constructing the new medical colleges in the aforementioned districts. He emphasized that local representatives and district administrations should inspect and finalize the required land. He instructed that consultant agencies be appointed and related procedures be completed within a time-bound schedule. Local administrations must ensure that no delays occur in execution, he added.

Fadnavis further noted that work is underway on government medical colleges with an intake capacity of 100 students each, and 430-bed hospitals in Sindhudurg, Jalna, Amravati, Washim, Wardha, Buldhana, Gadchiroli, Parbhani, and Hingoli. To provide the necessary infrastructure and facilities in these institutions, additional funds are required. He directed the Public Works Department to present a revised, comprehensive proposal for all works, in line with National Medical Commission (NMC) norms, to the high-level committee for approval.
