Yogi govt to deliver lab test reports to patients’ doorsteps

Lucknow : In a significant move to enhance healthcare accessibility, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has launched a new initiative to provide lab test reports directly to patients on their registered mobile numbers. This will eliminate the need for patients to visit hospitals repeatedly just to collect their diagnostic reports.

The facility, which was earlier available only in major hospitals of the state capital, has now been expanded to all district hospitals and community health centers (CHCs) on Chief Minister’s directive. Patients will receive their lab test reports within a few hours of the test being conducted.

This move is part of the ongoing digital and administrative transformation of the state’s healthcare system under CM Yogi’s leadership. By ensuring that patients can access their lab reports from the comfort of their homes, the government aims to make healthcare services more efficient, patient-friendly, and accessible.

Health and Medical Secretary Ritu Maheshwari said that on the instructions of CM Yogi, patients visiting government hospitals in Uttar Pradesh will now receive their lab test reports directly on their mobile phones. For this, the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) used in hospitals has been connected with the Lab Information System (LIS) under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).

She informed that once the tests are done, the reports will be available on the patient’s Personal Health Record (PHR) portal or mobile app. Patients will also receive an SMS or WhatsApp message with a link to access and download their report.

She further mentioned that earlier, patients had to visit the hospital again to collect their reports, which caused delays in treatment. Sometimes, if the report was lost, patients had to repeat the tests. Now, with this system, reports will be sent directly to patients at home. For patients admitted in hospitals, their reports will be sent directly to the concerned doctor through the hospital information system, ensuring timely and accurate treatment. This new facility promises better accuracy, timely delivery, and transparency in the reporting process.

The Health and Medical Secretary also said that patients can also download their reports anytime through the PHR app and share them with other doctors or hospitals if needed. Using the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID, patients can view and manage all their health records in one place. This system is being rolled out in all district hospitals and community health centers in the state. Some hospitals are already using it, and patients are getting their reports through mobile apps, SMS, and WhatsApp.
