Modi Government Bringing Bill to Jail Opposition Leaders in Fake Cases and Topple Their Governments – Sanjay Singh

New Delhi, Aug 2025 : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh strongly criticized the Modi government over the new bill concerning the removal of Prime Ministers and Chief Ministers in corruption cases. He alleged that the bill is not meant to fight corruption, but rather to jail opposition leaders in fake cases, topple elected governments through horse-trading, and ultimately destroy opposition parties.

Singh said, “The Modi government is bringing an unconstitutional and undemocratic bill. Its real purpose is to destabilize governments, engineer defections, indulge in buying and selling of legislators, trap opposition leaders in fabricated cases, send them to jail, and force them to resign. This bill is being introduced with the intent to finish democracy. That is why AAP and Arvind Kejriwal have decided not to be part of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) formed by the government.”

He further warned, “Make no mistake, this bill is not against corruption. The BJP’s love for the corrupt is just like Heer’s love for Ranjha, Laila’s love for Majnu, and Romeo’s love for Juliet. Look at Ajit Pawar, Narayan Rane, Chhagan Bhujbal, Hasan Mushrif, G. Janardhan Reddy, B.S. Yediyurappa, Mukul Roy and Shubhendu Adhikari of the Saradha-Narada scam, and Himanta Biswa Sarma – in which party are all these corrupt leaders today?”

Accusing the Prime Minister of shielding his close allies, Singh said, “Modi openly hands over national assets worth lakhs of crores to his friend Adani. Is this what fighting corruption looks like? Who will believe this bill is truly against corruption? His party even takes donations from a company involved in cow slaughter. This law has nothing to do with ending corruption – it is only about finishing parties, buying MLAs, toppling governments, and jailing the opposition. Hence, AAP and Kejriwal have decided not to participate in the JPC.”

In a post on X, Sanjay Singh added, “How can the king of the corrupt bring a bill against corruption? The objective of this bill is to trap leaders in false cases, send them to jail, and topple governments. That is why Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party have decided not to join the JPC.”
